Christmas Eve Horror Shoot

Leave it to me to be shooting macabre images the night before Christmas Eve!

I guess much of this shoot was technically done on Christmas Eve itself, because we started late in the evening and didn’t wrap it up until 4:00 am. (Sorry again, honey!) Liana and I were scheduled to shoot an entirely different theme that night after she got off work. The New Addition to the Family

After years of talking about it, my wife finally decided she wanted to get a dog. She had her heart set on a lemon Basset Hound and we started searching for breeders in our area about two months ago. However, one fateful trip to the pet store later (which she swears was my 4 year old, Kiefer’s, idea) she fell in love with a little blue Basset they had just received. After a mostly ceremonious visit to see this puppy for myself, I must admit I rather took a liking to the little girl. (more…)

Darling Tiffany came over again on Monday, this time with a concept to shoot high-key, black & white head shots with various colored pills in her mouth. A cool concept, I thought, and one for which I’ve seen few if any exceptional examples. (more…)

Adobe Lightroom 2.2 – Now Twice as Slow!

Yesterday saw the latest update from Adobe for Lightroom 2. Among other enhancements, this update promised an improved performance with the adjustment brush, which was certainly an issue I’ve had often in the past. I was stoked to get faster response times in Lightroom so I quickly downloaded and installed the update. Unfortunately, afterwords I actually noticed a signifigant drop in speed overall in comparison to the previous update. (more…)

My Christmas Gift to You

With the country in an economic recession and more and more companies laying off hard-working people to trim expenses (my employer has let go of about eight people in the past few months – about half of our staff), incomes are becoming less stable, at least theoretically. For these reasons, I know that the more frivolous expenses such as fine art portraits will likely be cut from most people’s budgets. (more…)
