Anyone who knows me at all knows that I have a dark side. I’ve loved horror movies since I was a kid and when I meet a model who loves the macabre as much as I do, I naturally just have to go there! I’ve had a few crazy suicide themes skulking around in my head for some time, and this was a perfect opportunity to execute one of them… no pun intended.
The suicide concept was more of a storytelling experience, and I shot it in a series of images like stills from a movie. You can get a sense of desperation in the beginning shots as she contemplates her actions. These emotions turn into resignation as she finally works up the nerve to follow through with her horrific act. I tried to keep a sense of realism with the blood and not get too gory with it, and I think it came off quite well.
This was my first time working with Ashley, and she was a trooper. She brought a lot into this shoot, and I can definitely see myself working with her again. Thanks, Ashley!
